Dex put down the thermos. Desperation speared through him. This would be his last opportunity, and only the chance of a freak storm had given it to him. He had to seize the day, take the chances he was known to take. He reached out and took her thermos, put it on the pantry counter top, and tugged her into his arms.

“I’ve wanted to do this for two months,” he whispered against her lips.
